ファンキー・ジャズの第一人者　1928～　最高のファンキー・ジャズ・ピアニストで、名作曲家のホレス・シルヴァーは、28年コネチカット生まれ。50年代末頃から60年代にかけてのファンキー・ジャズ・ブームの先駆者であり、第一人者として人気を博した。51年にニューヨークへ進出し、アート・ブレイキー（ds）と組んだクインテットで、ハード・バップ時代の幕開けを告げる。そのクインテットからジャズ・メッセンジャーズを誕生させる。その後も、ファンキー・ジャズのムーブメントを推進。ホレスのファンキー・ピアノはブルース、ゴスペル、ラテンなどを反映させたもので、天性のノリのよさは当初より群を抜いていた。90年代には、インパルスでブレッカー兄弟らとも共演。 Dr.NAKAJIMA著

Sugarhill Gang

The Sugarhill Gang is an American hip-hop group, known mostly for one hit, "Rapper's Delight", the first hip hop single to become a Top 40 hit. The track uses the bass line from Good Times as its foundation. The members, all from New York City, called themselves Wonder Mike, Big Bank Hank, and Master Gee. They were assembled into a group by producer Sylvia Robinson who also founded Sugar Hill Records along with her husband record mogul Joe Robinson.

Latifah was born and raised in the projects(Ghetto) of Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Rita, a schoolteacher who worked at Irvington High School, and Lancelot Owens, a policeman.
